The Guide to Sa'i: Walking Between Safa and Marwah
Reliving the maternal sacrifice of Sayyidah Hajar and understanding the deep lessons of reliance upon Allah.
The Legacy of Sayyidah Hajar
Sa'i is a physical embodiment of absolute trust in Allah (Tawakkul) combined with tireless human effort. As Hajar ran between the desolate hills of Makkah seeking water for baby Ismail, Allah brought forth the miraculous spring of Zamzam from the earth beneath his feet.
Navigating the Seven Laps
Begin at Mount Safa facing the Kaaba with hands raised in du'a. Walk toward Marwah (Lap 1). When men reach the green fluorescent light section, they quicken their pace to a gentle jog. Walk up Mount Marwah and supplicate (Lap 1 complete). Return from Marwah to Safa (Lap 2). Repeat until completing Lap 7 at Marwah.
